Red Mountain Golf Course in Phuket

Red Mountain Golf Course offers the most challenging 18 holes of golf in Phuket.

This 6,900 yard course is the ultimate golfing challenge, and I would have to rate it as one of the best golf courses in Phuket.

The course was completed in May 2007 and is built around the old tin mines, close to its sister course, Loch Palm Golf Course.

The course weaves its way through the rainforest, taking advantage of the old tin mine diggings.

There is plenty of elevation changes, and water hazards for those who hit stray shots from the elevated tee's.

Apart from the picturesque scenery, what we enjoyed most about playing this 18-hole course was the layout.

Every hole was a challenge, with fast greens, tight fairways, strategically placed bunkers and plenty of water hazards that come into play.

Red Mountain Golf Course 17th Hole

The 17th hole is one of the best par-3 holes I have ever played. This hole has an elevated tee, which drops 40 metres down to the green below.

Club selection is key to this hole, as there is a bunker to the right and another bunker placed just beyond the green, with lots of trees on your left.

If your a keen golfer like me, I strongly recommend playing a round at Red Mountain Golf Course.

While the course is certainly demanding and you might lose a few balls along the way, it stands out as one of the most memorable golfing experiences I’ve ever had.

One of the most valuable tips I can give you for playing a round at Red Mountain Golf Course is to pay close attention to your caddy’s guidance, especially regarding club selection, yardage and reading the greens.

Facilities at Red Mountain Golf Course

On-site facilities at Red Mountain Golf Course include a 25-bay driving range and a practice putting green.

There is a modern Clubhouse which offers golfers a wide range of amenities, including a well-stocked Pro Shop, where you can purchase the latest golf equipment.

If you're like us and prefer not to travel with your own golfing gear, there is a dedicated rental shop where you can hire golf clubs, shoes, umbrellas, and golf carts.

To save a bit of money on rental equipment when we travel, we always take a collared pollo shirt, shorts and a decent pair of running shoes, as there is always a dress code, when it comes to playing golf.

If you want to freshen up after your round of golf, there are men's and women's locker rooms available with showers and an onsite bar and restaurant.

Pricing and Booking Options

Red Mountain Golf Course is one of the most expensive golf courses to play in Phuket, but I must say it is totally worth it, and I will definitely be back to play again.

Green fees at Red Mountain Golf Course start from 4,500 Baht for 18 holes.

Golf carts are mandatory at Red Mountain, and each player is required to have their own cart. I wouldn't even consider walking this course, due to the steep terrain, especially on the back 9.

As with all golf courses in Phuket, caddy fees are compulsory; the price for the caddy fee is 400 Baht per player.

The caddy fee shouldn't be confused with the caddy tip. The Caddy tip is paid directly to the caddy after the game. The recommended tip for each caddy is 400 Baht.
