Issue No 15, 24th January 2011

Hello and welcome to this issue of Phuket Travel Secrets monthly e-zine

For the first time visitor to Phuket you will find lots of exciting places to visit and things to do, however there are lots of beautiful islands around Phuket that offer unique sights of their own.

One of our personal favorites is Koh Phi Phi, but there are many other islands around Phuket that are just as inviting and not as well known. One that we feel deserves a mention is Koh Lone Island, an ideal spot for a peaceful and romantic getaway.

You might like to include a couple of nights in your holiday plans to one of these beautiful islands or maybe take a day trip. If you want to see some of the most spectacular natural beauty, take a day trip to Phang Nga Bay, you won’t be disappointed.

If you are traveling to Phuket in February, ensure that you book your accommodation in advance as many people come to Phuket to enjoy the many festivals that take place at this time of the year.

For the best deals on hotel bookings in Phuket, we recommend you have a look at Agoda, here you will find big discounts and special promotions in Phuket. Agoda has the best availability coupled with the lowest rates all over Phuket and Thailand.

What’s on in Phuket in February 2011

Festivities in Phuket in February kick off from the 3rd starting with the Wat Chalong Fair, considered to be one of the biggest festivals in Phuket attracting visitors from all over Thailand. The festival takes place this year from the 3rd to 9th February on the grounds of Wat Chalong Buddhist Temple, the biggest and most important temple in Phuket. The festival is a mixture of entertainment, shopping and food. This is an ideal opportunity for visitors to Phuket to experience true Thai culture.

If you are in Phuket from the 8th to the 10th February make your way into Phuket Town for the 12th anniversary of the popular Old Phuket Town Festival which is also held in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebrations. The Festival is held in the middle of old Phuket Town along Thalang Rd, Soi Rommanee, Krabi Rd, Phang Nga Rd, and Thepkrasatri Rd.

During the festival Soi Rommanee and Thalang Road will be converted into walking streets where you will find lots of street stalls and colorful entertainment. Activities start around 3.00 pm until late each day.

For boating enthusiasts The Bay Regatta formerly known as the Phang Nga Bay Regatta will be held from the 9th to the 13th February. The regatta usually attracts at least 40 yachts each year, making it one of the biggest sailing events in Asia.

Join in the celebrations at the 10th annual Phuket Gay Pride Festival from the 23rd to 26th February. The festival is one of the biggest tourist events in Phuket. Some of the events include colorful street performances and parades, fireworks displays, volleyball competitions, games and shows.
